Mastopexy

Mastopexy is a surgical procedure designed to lift and improve the shape of sagging breasts. It restores breast tissue, repositions the areolas to an optimal position, and enhances the overall contour of the breasts. This procedure eliminates excess skin, creating a firmer, more youthful, and aesthetically pleasing appearance.

In some cases, breast implants may be recommended alongside the lift to restore volume fully. The most suitable type of implants will be carefully assessed based on each patient’s needs.

Es probable, que, junto con la elevación del pecho o mastopexia sea recomendable incorporar implantes mamarios para completar la recuperación. Para ello, se valorarán las prótesis más adecuadas.

The type and extent of scarring depend on the amount of tissue removed, skin quality and elasticity, and the degree of breast sagging. Scars may be:

  • Around the areola and in an inverted “T” shape (a vertical scar on the lower breast and a horizontal scar along the inframammary fold).
  • Around the areola with a vertical-only incision.
  • Solely around the areola.

Scar healing depends on both the patient’s genetic predisposition and postoperative care. Generally, scars are more noticeable during the first year but gradually improve over time.

Some controlled pain may occur, but discomfort is usually mild with the help of painkillers. Most patients can resume normal activities within 48 hours.

Yes, but high-impact sports or activities that heavily engage the pectoral muscles should be avoided for the first 2 to 3 months. Other forms of exercise generally do not pose an issue, depending on intensity and type.

Although an immediate improvement is noticeable after surgery, it will take several months for the final results to fully develop. Additionally, breast shape may still be influenced by hormonal changes such as ovulation, menstruation, pregnancy, or weight fluctuations.
